Main Components of a Plate Heat Exchanger
Component Description
Plates Corrugated metal sheets that form heat exchange channels.
Gaskets Seals the plates to prevent fluid mixing (only for gasketed PHEs).
Frame & Tie Bars Holds the plates together, allowing assembly/disassembly.
Connections Inlet/outlet ports for fluid flow.
How It Works

1. Two fluids (hot & cold) enter through separate inlets.

2. Fluids flow through alternating narrow channels without mixing.

3. Heat is transferred from the hot fluid to the cold fluid via the plates.

4. Cooled hot fluid & heated cold fluid exit through separate outlets.

5. Efficient turbulence flow ensures maximum heat exchange with minimal fouling.
